Scio Township transitioned to a single waste-hauler in January of 2021 by contracting with Green For Life Environmental Services (GFL).  The contract under which GFL operated in the Township is exclusive. No other waste haulers were authorized to offer waste or recycling services in the Township through November 18, 2025 (Ordinance chapter 26, sec 26.21). 

As of July 1, 2024, the residential waste and recycling contract is held by Priority Waste, LLC. The company has stated their intention to make this a seamless transition for Scio Township residents.
