A separate meter can be installed to measure water usage for irrigation systems or outside watering at your home or business. Separate metering of irrigation water will save you the cost of the sewer fee ($12.86/unit as of July 2024) on the water used for this purpose.

The cost for a residential ¾” irrigation meter is $375.00.

Commercial accounts may use up to 1” meter. The cost for a commercial 1” water meter is $605.00.

Before installation, a plumbing permit (available from the Washtenaw County Building Department) is required and should be purchased by the homeowner or licensed plumber.

All outside/underground irrigation systems must have backflow prevention devices and must be certified by a third-party certification agency.
